Richard Schofield

Richard is the Planning Inspectorate’s most senior Planning Inspector. He joined The Planning Inspectorate in 2013 from a senior management role in local government. He has also worked in the private and Third sectors. In addition to the breadth of expertise gained from his work as a town planner and Planning Inspector, he has considerable experience of working as part of a senior management team. Richard has ultimate responsibility for inspectors’ professional standards and the quality of PINS’ output, as well as being the liaison on policy matters with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and key stakeholder bodies.
