James Corbet Burcher is a planning barrister at No5 Chambers.

He has acted for developers and local authorities in dozens of Green Belt cases: at local plan examinations, at inquiry and in the courts.

These range from major sites (Pinewood Studios, and Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone plan and Oxford Brookes University Wheatley Campus) to single residential dwellings.

He has extensive experience of promoting sites for release from the Green Belt, including a significant number of High Court cases considering the exceptional circumstances test: including IM Properties v Lichfield and Compton PC v Guildford BC.
